One thousand breeding dogs and puppies were rescued from Whispering Oaks Kennels in West Virginia on Saturday, August 24, 2008, through the efforts of the Humane Society of Parkersburg, the Woods County Sheriff's Office and PetSmart Charities' Emergency Relief Waggin'.
